Some people have issues, road rage thread

Im was on my regular morning commute up the 405 to LA from OC today. As Im merging onto the freeway, I signal, give ample time and switched to the left lanes. Some crazy guy (or girl) speeding in their Honda Fit behind me goes around me and cuts me off. Apparently they felt that I cut them off and starting throwing things out the window, hoping to hit me. There was a coffee mug with some coffee and ice, a bunch of loose papers, and a few magazines. They then speed off, start swerving (in anger i guess?) and exit off the freeway with their emergency lights turning off and on.

If I didnt have work, I probably would of chased them off the freeway but I went on my merry way.

People are crazy.

(though, if you were in the left lane, keeping up with traffic in front of you, and actively passing people on the right, then they just need to be patient. though the fact you said they then passed you on the right would indicate you were not actively passing someone and should have not been in the left lane)

Not that rage is good, but if you are in the left lane and someone is going faster than you, gtfo of the way. Doesn't matter if you are doing 100mph, if someone is doing 120mph behind you MOVE.

Were you going freeway speed? I hate slow mergers. If you are about 60-65 mph, merge into the far right lane if safe and check the speed of the people coming up behind you. If they are faster than you don't change lanes, let them pass you. If you are going the same speed or faster then you are ok to move across to the left. However if the idiot is going 80 in the far right lane then they can slow down or go around you.

(putting on flame suit) Remember CA is different than most places. If there is no traffic on the freeway 80mph is more of a norm even though 65 is the speed limit.

they sure behaved illegally and their behaviour was very dangerous, you should have reported it to the police. Even if you were distrupting the flow of traffic this kind of road rage is not justified.

Before going on the left lane because my lane goes slower than max speed, I either have enough space before I reach the car I'm behind, I accelerate to left lane speed and merge, otherwise I wait for a hole in the left lane and then merge and accelerate immediately.
If there's no way I can do it, I'm not going to risk an accident just to spare 30 seconds.

Why do people in SoCal swith to the more left lane when there's no one in front of them in their original lane? Why do people drive 10-15mph below the speed limit in perfect weather? Why do people think that the first step in a right turn is to come to a complete stop?

Yep, too many damn people don't bother to take into account your closure rate when merging into the lane. They just see a space and go right in. You now have to slam on your brakes cause the speed you're going narrowed that gap very quickly.

I've seen a lot of road ragers and although their actions can't be justified, I always see why they're angry. Feeling slapped on the face by a selfish or negligent driver and being unable to do anything makes a person do crazy things. Get a camera and stay safe out there.

I had this happen to me a couple months ago. I was getting on the freeway and a few cars in front of me were merging, the guy in front of me had already merged but I saw this guy flying up in the far right lane quickly closing the door on me so I waited to see if he would slow and finally as he was practically alongside me he backed off and let me in.

What the fuck is the point of that? He's not going to be able to drive through the cars in front of him so he's just going to be a fucking dickhole and make me slow to get in behind him?

And leave it to ATOT to find something, hell anything you did wrong whenever posting a story that involves you operating a motorized vehicle of any kind though. :whiste:

Its a 7 lane highway (at that portion of the 405). I had to merge in as my lane was ending. He/she switched to the left, cut me off, started throwing things at me, then switched to the right and sped off. That's what I meant by passing.

Morning traffic was just starting so it was about 50 mph.

To clarify that as well, the car in front of me was going sub 40s. This is the farthest right lane (7th I belive)

My great aunt always scolds me when I rage, but I only rage because of three things :

1. Idiots that don't use their turn signals - I'm convinced I'm going to be in an accident one day because of these retards... had quite a few close calls.

2. Idiots without tail lights, or idiots with darkened car mods over their tail lights making them near impossible to see in daylight.

3. People driving 15 MPH in a 35 MPH zone around the busy shopping area around me, rubbernecking to find a store. Pull the fuck off the road and look around - by the freeway there is nearly always a 1/4mile backup, and these retards compound the problem.
