WINDSOR TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- A York County man who lost a $4,000 engagement ring got the ring back, but at a steep price.

Barak Gohn lost the ring last week after buying it at a jewelry store in Lancaster County. Gohn said in the confusion of putting a puppy into his car, he left the ring on the roof and drove off.Barak Gohn lost the ring last week after buying it at a jewelry store in Lancaster County. Over the weekend, Gohn got a call from a woman who said she had found the ring. Gohn had offered a $500 reward, but the caller wanted $1,000. Gohn paid it and got his ring back.

Where are the ethics people?

Most people would offer to give the ring back, even if a reward was not offered. The guy was even offering a reward, but this woman demanded more. :|

Talk about ruining the surprise...

"A thousand people around me are making sure I have the ring," he said. "I can't wait until I can just propose to her and put it on her finger, and know it's safe and know its not going to leave there for a long time."

I think he's lucky to get it back at all. I'd guess a lot of people would just pawn it.

That having been said, I would have just given it back to him for no reward.

That is shitty. I lost my phone here in Norwich, UK while I was out going to different pubs (fell out of my Jacket while taking it off...noise was too loud to hear it fall). I didn't realize it until later that night when I got back to the hotel. I never would have ever expected that back in the States. But a girl who found texted everyone on my recent contact list telling them she had found my phone and wanted to return it. She finally got a hold of one of my colleague who was with me and she drove to our hotel to drop it off for me. Some people still have morals/ethics.

That's pathetic. That bitch needs to be choked. If that was me who had found the ring, I'd be happy taking no reward.

Seriously; giving the ring back with no reward and making someone happy is a reward in itself.

I would be happy if he shot her in the face, took the ring, and walked away.

You guys,,, PFFt,, the entire world functions the same way. This just happens to be a situation where the particulars are bland and ugly. BUT even on the largest of scale, our behavior does not change. We're all Dix. So those of you who think you're any different are the ignorant ones.

He was lucky to get it back period. If I lost a $4k ring, even $2k for a reward would seem like a bargain.

I would give it back no reward needed. How am I ignorant for thinking I'm different than this lady?

Don't try to drag others down to your level.

Speak for yourself, I know what I would have done, and it wouldn't have involved blackmailing this poor bastard. Some of us are not always looking for an advantage or to squeeze a buck from our fellow man.

That's what he gets for being a douchebag and leaving a $4,000 engagement ring on the top of his car.

Woman should be slapped though.

Thinking like that is exactly why people continue to be assholes. It's called false justification. Thanks for throwing fuel into the fire. Now if you please...go away and let the rest of continue trying to do our best at being good people.

The pawn shop probably offered $150.
