Some people are Jerks

Argo

Excuse my language, but I'm really fuming right now.

I went to the subway for lunch. My car was parked there 3 minutes tops. Some jackass managed to hit my car and leave without leaving a note or anything. Now there's a huge dent on the drivers side door. Argh...

Update: Just spoke with my insurance company - I'll be responsible for deductable, which in my case is $500. So best case scenerio I'm out $150-$200. Worst case - $500. Makes me wanna take a bat to some people's head!

Update2: Just got an estimate - it's gonna cost $1200 to repair.

Won't someone please think of the children!

I'm sorry to hear that. People just suck. :|

I always park my car on the far end of the lot, away from anyone else, if possible. This avoids scenarios like you're going thru today. BTW, I've been there, got the dent...that's why I park a 5-minute walk away from wherever I'm going.

At first I thought it was keyed. Which is even worse in my book, because it's not accidental. But there's actually a 1/2 inch dent around the scratch, which makes me think it was done by another car's bumper.

I think Jerboy is a jerk. :Q:Q:Q

<-- Is going to hell. 😱

/edit <sigh> Need to change the content because the subject changed... 🙁

I try to do the same thing but I still get the inevitable door dings. Sorry to hear about that Argo. :|

Sue the car companies. If they didn't make cars, none of this would have happened. And to all you car nuts out there, don't give me that "Cars don't hit cars, people hit cars" BS.

I called my insurance co. They told me no point in calling the police, they can't do anything.

lets see...hmmmm
you are in New York...
and people are jerks?
noooooooowayyyyyy!!!!
not in NY!

get a grip dude, you live in the asshat capitol of the world!
that's what insurance is for anyhow...

I live in western CT. My profile is outdated. This is a very rich county. And dont judge New Yorkers by what you see in the movies. Stuff like that never happened while I lived in "asshat capital of the world", as you put it.

Have a police report/incident report made within 24 hours, or you'll likely be out a deductable. With the police report you have proof. If you don't get the report, and then turn in a claim, your going to get a hard time about wheather or not you inflicted the ding yourself.

That's JMO

Save yourself the heartache, and get the police report, go to body shop, see how much it costs to repair, if it's what you would consider cheap to get fixed, pay for it yourself, if not, then use the police report to turn in claim, it should not go against you on your insurance rate.
