This computer runs fine (the one in my sig) but a strange anomaly has happened: My Photoshop icon is gone from the Start menu, replaced by a placeholder icon from Windows. Same for a Dreamweaver icon in my taskbar below.

Both programs still run fine. All other icons are still in place and there are no other issues with this build, which is about four months old. I normally leave it on 24/7 but just restarted it, hoping these two icons would reappear.

But the restart had no effect. Every time I have seen data disappear in the past, with other older computers, there has been a problem.

any suggestions here?
