Some of it works... just not together

Hey All,
I have built many many computers in my day and so when I ordered up some parts from Newegg I didn't envision I would have problems with this. However I have been having issues.

The problem is that when I turn on the computer all the fans turn on and the CD-rom drive spins up. But the computer won't post, nor give me any beep codes.

I RMA'ed the case and motherboard (it was a bare-bones thing) and when I got them back it does the exact same thing. Disconnecting the HD, and CD-rom drive have no effect. Removing the RAM doesn't seem to have any effect either.

Any suggestions? Am I looking at a bad processor do you think? (It's a core 2 duo E6750)

Thanks in advance for help!

~Ben

I bought a video card for it but haven't installed it as of yet and I am simply trying to get the system to post before I add the card in. So it's using the onboard card right now.

Thanks

Mr. Poe said it best: "Silence there and nothing more."

Same thing as when the RAM is in there. Nothing posts, nothing beeps. Fans spin, CD-rom spins up, nothing else.

Hi,
Try clearing CMOS - just because you can and its free.
If still no luck, seeing as how you've changed/checked everything else, it leaves CPU or psu.

Could you try chucking a new psu in - if you have one to hand - what psu is it?

Just gonna tell you what you already know now.
Most likely though, is cpu.
Good luck,

I'm thinking a defective mobo, you do have the pc speaker plugged into the mobo correct? if so, then I'd say the mobo is DOA. I'd contact asus about a RMA on it.
