Vista comes pre-installed as you know, but I have sucesfully downgraded to Windows XP
The drivers are here:
<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/notebook/aspire_5610/driver">ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.co......aspire_5610/driver</a>
The exceptions are:
Grab the latest intel chipset and graphic drivers off the Intel site (945 Mobile Express for both)
Download the synpatics drivers for the touchpad from here:
http://www.synaptics.com/support/drive.cfm
Don't install the Bison camera drivers or the Synaptics drivers from the FTP site. The notebook will not restart, shutdown or enter standby with these drivers installed.
Other than that everything should be a-ok! (I haven't tested modem or on board ethernet since I am using a wireless broadband connection)

As far as the Windows XP installation goes, there is a hidden 6gb partition, the Vista partition and a data partition (~50 gb each I think) I left everything in tact and just installed XP onto the empy data partition. Shouldn't be a problem to boot up with Vista disk and setup a dual boot configuration
