Mazda had a demo between an RX-7 and an RX-8... the RX-7 would leave the RX-8 on the straights... but the driver of the latter wasn't as busy as the one on the FD when cornering... :D oh well... i'd still take the FD over anything coming out today... :)

Two different cars. You won't get the driving feel in the EVO/STi that you would get in the RX-8. Think of the RX-8 has a bigger Miata. That said, I would want both.

Not saying RX-8 is better than EVO/STi or other way around.

Yeah I know, I was basing it more on the fact they're all priced about the same. The RX-8 is like a grand-tourer with emphasis on sport. The EVO and STi are like super aggressive slot cars, its at home in all-weather conditions. RX-8 is ideal for long distant type cruising.

What's a slot car? I've heard that term before but don't know what it means?

I'd still take a RX-8 over a 350Z. These two are actually of a similar breed and driving style(sports-car/tourer).

From google:

Slot cars are known to some as "that cute little car racing set my older brother had when I was a kid". They may also be known as "those #@%^*! little cars my (son, husband, boyfriend --- pick one) spends all his time and money tinkering with." Slot cars also cause their owners to be asked, "are you still playing with toy cars at your age?" The answer, of course, is always yes, spoken through a wide grin. Bear in mind, however, the adage that the only difference between men and boys is the price of their toys. Slot cars are big boys toys. They are also little boys toys. And, increasingly, they are the toys of both little girls and grown women.

So, just what is a slot car?

A slot car is miniature racing car that is guided by a blade or pin-shaped device that sticks down from the bottom of the car's front end and follows a slot in the track surface. The car is powered by a small but very powerful electric motor. The motor draws electricity, usually 12 volts DC, from metal stripes on either side of the slot. The driver controls the car by means of a pistol-shaped speed control. He (or she) gives the car full throttle down the straightaways and tries to power the car through the turns as fast as it will go without coming out of the slot.

I guess its used to describe a car that sticks to the road like these toy cars. I always thought it was a small point and shot type car...

No problem. Glad you enjoyed it. :)

Oh so those are slot cars. I remember those, I had a set when I was kid. But I remember that it would never stay on its slot, I would go thru a corner pretty fast and it would fly off the track!

Yeah, it's been on ATOT a few times, how Mazda is still redesigning the RX-7 with a new Renesis. I love where Mazda's going these days...if I make enough this summer, I'd love to lease a Mazda6, but who knows.
