Some 'news' on Arrested Development

It gives some very nice insights into what is going on with the show. In a nutshell, Showtime is interested in picking up the show, but ultimately it is up to the creater, Mitch Hurwitz, to decide whether he even WANTS to continue making the show. Nothing about Fox in the article, but I see no reason why they would pick this show up for a fourth season. Can you blame Mitch for being reluctant about returning to this show? It wasn't exactly a smooth ride for him with Fox.

Oh, and the 3rd season dvd set has been delayed. It was scheduled to come out on June 13th, now there is no set date. 🙁

And one more thing. This is gossip, but it is gossip from Jason Bateman himself. The original site is here: TvWithoutPity The post is by the owner of the site, Glark, who met Jason Bateman and got a quick interview out of him. Bateman says that Showtime is picking up the show for two seasons (24-26 episodes), and that they're waiting on Mitch Hurwitz to decide if he'll do it or not. Bateman says Hurwitz will make a decision in 24-48 hours, but again this is still just speculation.

Ir Hurwitz is balking it's almost certainly over money. The show is critically acclaimed, has an extremely loyal fan base, isn't too far from having enough episodes to be successfully syndicated and the move to cable would allow them to push things even further creatively. It's a win-win for Hurwitz. It's a very expensive show to produce though, big cast and lots of location shots. Showtime could not possibly devote the money to it that Fox did. Hurwitz is probably worried that he can't make it good on the Showtime budget.

Yeah, I remember reading somewhere that Arrested Development cost Fox $1.6 million per episode. :Q It's probably one of his main reasons for keeping quiet so far. If the show is dead at least we'll have some closure on the series. That's another one of the problems though. Fox really painted the show into a corner when they forced them to finish off the 3rd season. But with how this show works they could rectify that with 30-seconds of Ron Howard narrating, lol.

Two hours of American Idol? :| Won't that cause cancer, or at least some form of brain damage? Kind of like staring at the sun for too long?

The War At Home 🙁

The Simsons 17th season :frown:

But Arrested Development is the show with the questionable future.
