Some much needed info: Peltier Kits and Water Cooling

I'm looking to do something cool to my case ... since it's always a neverending journey for us case modder's. I'd like to push my Athlon even more, so I'm thinking of replacing the current HSF I have right now with a peltier kit or even a water cooling kit. Could you experts out there explain to me how each of these systems work? Thanks!
