do you use UDMA-100-cables, the ones with blue, grey and black connectors
blue for mainboard
grey for slave
black for master

???

Other way to identify this:

UDMA 66/100 cables have 80 wires as opposed to the "normal" 40-wires from old IDE-cables. They still have 40 pin connectors, just the wires "look a lot finer" to be rather un-tekkie about this.

40-wire cables are limited to ATA/33. You need 80-wire cables for ATA/66 or ATA/100 modes. :D

Hope this helps.

Some drives need to be switched to ATA 100 using a small program available from the manufacturers website, not sure about yours, but go check it out.
Good luck.

It depends what you do & how fast your drives are.

Also - I would recommend you should enable DMA. Check in Device Manager.

You have to enable DMA (tick a box) in the properties of each HDD or CD-ROM in Win9X based system seperately. In W2K you enable DMA on the Controllers.

That'll give you a boost too :).
