A friend of mine recently got an ipod among other gifts and now that his birthday is coming up, he doesn't know what to get

He's going to ask for a $1000 server for home use :roll:

He admits it won't be much use, but he doesn't know what else to get. I find this very stupid personally

There is average - which is my family.
Then there is rich - which is the one i am speaking of.
Then there is uber rich - at this level no matter how dumb you are you will not run out of money even if you waste it away.

If you are just 'rich' and dont have any value of moeny - either some incident will make you learn it - or you'll fall on your face.

My issue is that it will hardly have a purpose right now and he's asking for it just because he doesn't know what else to ask for. It's really just a waste of money, nothing else.

People like him don't find it wrong to "waste" mommy and daddy's money, yet they would never do the same with their own money

My issue is that it will hardly have a purpose right now and he's asking for it just because he doesn't know what else to ask for. It's really just a waste of money, nothing else.

People like him don't find it wrong to "waste" mommy and daddy's money, yet they would never do the same with their own money

audio video gear. EVERYBODY can use more AV gear.

I'd recommend a nice video cam, or maybe a set of speakers or maybe a pre-amp or maybe a CD player.

haha, he got a klipsch setup not too long ago for audio

he already has a dvd player and large tv, as well as an ipod

well to tame those klipsch horns I'd recommend a rotel or aragon amplifier. And a 1000 dollar CD player will present music like he's never heard before.

meh, he'll grow up, he might learn he might not. Lots of kids are spoiled because their parents want them to have nice things. I'm going to spoil the hell out of my kids, assuming that they understand what they have and how to be a good person.

Seems like there are a lot of poor geeks on this forum, or at least they were when they were young. It's just money.
