Yup, we often receive up to 15 trucks/day, many of the drivers are from Eastern Europe or other parts of the world. Thing is trucking always involved long hours or even weeks away from home but the pay made it worth it, not so much anymore.
The Fn Navy used to hire the same Fn trucking company to move gear from Cape Canaveral, FL to Bangor, WA to support DASO and CET missions. They were supposed to be GPS tracked and loads not added or shifted. 2 times in a row, the Fn driver was a Russian National that couldn't drive on base. And at least once the load had obviously been shifted. We bitched, but the Fn law makes the Navy go low bidder. Whew, give it up you're retired!
I guess this triggered something in me.

Tax cuts, deregulation, outsourcing. Supply-side economics. Give the rich as much money as possible and it will trickle down all over the working classes' faces.

Truck drivers getting good pay and benefits is communism comrades. Just like any other 'easy' to do job. Just ask any shitty conservative.
Funny thing is that I would expect a lot of truck drivers to be republicans. The industry has just worked very hard to reduce costs and increase profits. The attack on Unions had the desired effect of leaving truckers without any leverage. Many people didn’t realize that even when union membership was only, say, 40% in a given industry, their negotiations improved all the workers pay and benefits in that industry. I don’t understand why democrats haven’t pushed back harder on the unionization front.
