As for all this, am I missing anything else? Any other suggestions that could help the price factor? Working on budget, so all suggestions welcome.

Out of curiosity, how would an athlop xp 3200+ compare to the cheapest athlon 64, 2800+ i think is the cheapest 64? Which one is quicker/better? I noticed the cheapest athlon 64 is cheaper than the xp 3200+. Was curious because if the 64 is better, i'd like to update my list. Also what are the differences between these 2 vid cards? which is better buy?

vid card 1

or

vid card 2

Thanks!

you are gonna want pc3200 with that processor. an A64 2800+ will have no problem outperforming and AXP 3200+

for the video card, try to get a 9800/9800pro/9700pro/5900 if you can afford

if you plan on overclocking, you can get a 2400+/2500+/2600+ mobile and OC it, using what you save to upgrade the video

Have pc2700 from old comp. Will it work alright on xp3200+ and 64 2800+ mobos? I dont want to shell out new cash for ram when i already have. know what i mean?

Would you recommend me getting the 64 2800+ instead then? And if so, what is a good choice of mobo?

No doubt! You're going to have yourself one very expensive XP2500, if you don't replace your ram. 11x166=1833mhz, or a Barton 2500.

currently i own an amd 2600+. family just looking to build new comp, stripped some parts off one currently, and replaced with extra parts. like 1.5gb of ram right now in this one, taking 1gb and putting in new one, etc....

with the pc2700, i wouldnt recommend a AXP 3200+

overall, i would definately recommend a A64 2800+ over a AXP 3200+ but again, pc3200 is suggested

ever think about selling the pc2700 and putting the money towards pc3200?

I guess i will have to sell pc2700 if you dont recommend for either xp or 64...i am starting to lean towards the 64. it will run fine with win2k or winxp? what is the best mobo you can recommend me without breaking my wallet? any around the price of the mobo i had picked out for the 3200+? Also - what is a good heatsink and fan i can get for the 64?

If you don't want to overclock (or not much), then you could get the XP3000. Just make sure you get the 333mhz version, because they have a 400mhz version out now.
