Some info, please...Direct TV.

Here's the deal, a friend has a DTV system with an H CARD, he said I can have. All he wants me to do is restore his current set-up. My question, can I just swap access cards? If I throw a HU CARD in his receiver will it work? Do I have to call DTV to activate? Any costs or modifications to his account?

You will have to call them to set up. I know you will have to pay them to use their service, and I believe a set up fee too.

And why would you want an H card

Anyways the HU will work in his receiver if it is virgin. If the card has been used in your receiver it is married and will only work in that receiver.

The H card will work in yours only if it is unmarried or cleaned if it is not virgin.

BTW with the speed of things changing it is not practical to depend on a programmed card for your TV viewing unless you can make the necessary changes to your card in house, hence it being called a "Test" card
