I think this is the right forum to put this subject but if any of the Mod. think it's not then move it wherever as you wish.

1) Like giving the owner of the topic to edit the topic's name, I think the owner should also get an option to delete the topic. This will be easier for the Mod. and user don't have to create another topic call "Delete please"

2) Give the owner of the topic to move the topic to the right Forum. Some Forum get misposted. And maybe let the ppl that subscrib to the forum know where it moved to.

Some other issues that I am not sure how to make it "good enough".

1) I think this more belong in the "Hot Deal" forum. There are so many "hot deal" out there and varies from ppl to ppl. For some ppl, they don't want to subscrib or free magazine and some others that are free but of no use to that person at all. So I suggest create like a poll. Subscribe user can rate how hot the deal is to them. Others can search according to this poll. Lets say I want to view all the 5 stars hot deal.
a) New topic usually hasn't get rated yet. So I am not sure to give it a default 5 stars and if its not a hot hot hot deal then it will get quickly bumb to 1 or zero stars depending on the average of the rating.

This is all I have for now. Thanks for listening. :)

1,2 are for moderators only, we will not alow normal users to do this it would be abused and would cause alot more problems.

3 we aren't going to modify forum code for special needs right now.

Thanks

1, 2) If person A created the topic, shouldn't person A have the right to delete the topic if later on he/she find that isn't not appropriate? I mean I see users starts another topic title "Delete please". This is just an idea.

3) This is more apply for Hot Deal Forum. But if a deal isn't so hot, I just thought it shouldn't be there to clutter up other deals.

Thanks for listening. AnandTech is the greatest. :)

No.
As you were told, it would be abused.

We can already change the Message Title (The topic name). This is why if you ever see a topic with the name as a period or DELETE PLEASE or Mods, Please Lock or something not normal, the creator of the topic has changed the title to let the mods know that the topic can be locked/deleted whatever. But I agree with Zuni and oldsmoboat that allowing a user to delete his/her own thread, or move it themselves would not work out. Way too much abuse would go on.

TTM77: Consider this: if a deal went bad in FS/FT, and the troll decided to delete his original thread as to remove evidence of the trade, what would you do?

That's a good parellel. Another could be used for that night a few nights ago. Apparently the mods disappeared for the night, and a nef fest went on. If the users were able to delete their own threads, the mods would not have definitive proof to ban or give vacations to these people. I think the way the forums are set up now is very nice. Some forums do not even allow users to edit the Message Title, while this one does. Not many people realize this, but we are posting on a very lenient forum. This forum in my experience is the most leaned back, yet most strict. You have a lot of leg room to play around in, but if you cross the boundary, the mods strike down in full force. This, in my opinion, is how a forum should be run. Thank you Anand, Zuni, and many others for one of, if not the best internet forums I have ever or will frequent to.

I must say that I agree pretty much 100% (though I may not like how a few very minor things are done, they are very inconsequential in the overview of things). After seeing how some other forums that are run more leniently go to a Very Hot Place (TM) in a handbasket, I have come to the conclusion that the way things are done here is Just About Right (TM). ;) :D
