Some huge rumors that Blackstone has agreed to purchase Chrysler from Daimler.

No proof, other than LOTS of talk around Metro Detroit. Usually the talk isn't far off, though.

The three rumors going together are:

Blackstone purchased Chrysler
Manga will buy the stamping plants
Daimler is keeping Jeep

wasn't there a rumor that Daimler want to swap interest from Chrysler to GM instead?

anyway, Blackstone's name is getting heard in just about any acquisition news.

Well, it would be more beneficial to them. Chrysler just isn't very good.

All I care about is Jeep, and Daimler is keeping it 🙁. I'll never be able to buy a brand new truck with two solid axles unless I stop boycotting Daimler Benz.

Why does Daimler have to keep Jeep? Probably their way of taking revenge for losing WWII.
Because Jeep is the only thing that Chrysler has that's worth keeping. And Chrysler was well on the way to screwing Jeep up, too.

Magna probably built half of your car already😉

As for the chrysler bashing, I seem to recall chrysler having a pretty good lineup and balance sheet when they merged? It seems to me like the two companies never really harnessed each other's strengths though.

Blackstone is a company who buys publicly traded companys, take them off the stock market, restructure (ie: fire a bunch of ppl), make the company profitable (at least on paper), and then put the company back in the stock market for a profit. Needless to say, they have HUGE amount of funding. Blackstone is creme de creme among all of these private equity firm.

And it's being speaheaded by Wolfgang Bernhard.

Magna is a major Tier 1 supplier for everybody.

i think we read about some of their takeover attempts in corporate finance. that'd be why that name rings a bell.

Blackstone was one of the investors that supplied capital to get American Axle off the ground. There has been talk that AAM is going after Chrysler's axle business. Right now we do the forgings for their big trucks (full float axles).

It sounds like DCX is going to be carved apart. GM has been rumored to be sniffing at the minivan division, since their line is so pathetic.
