Well, it would be more beneficial to them. Chrysler just isn't very good.

All I care about is Jeep, and Daimler is keeping it. I'll never be able to buy a brand new truck with two solid axles unless I stop boycotting Daimler Benz.

Blackstone is a company who buys publicly traded companys, take them off the stock market, restructure (ie: fire a bunch of ppl), make the company profitable (at least on paper), and then put the company back in the stock market for a profit. Needless to say, they have HUGE amount of funding. Blackstone is creme de creme among all of these private equity firm.
