Some HD DVDs Not Loading on A3

I've rented about 6 HD DVDs from BlockBuster.
2 of them have gotten stuck at loading and cleaning them didn't help.
One was Bourne Ultimatum and the other was American Gangster, last night.
Last night I updated the firm ware (again) and the disk worked in HD.
Anyone else experience this? Is it the disks or the player?

Both! Some players have more trouble reading problematic discs than others. If it's easy to do so try exchanging the A3 for another one if it continues to happen.

As I said in the OP, I have the latest firm ware.

I bought DVE (the newest one) off the FS/T forums here and it came yesterday.
The HD DVD side will not load. It says the disc is not a DVD format. The SD side will load.
What a pain.

this seems to be a recurring problem with Netflix HD DVD rentals. not much longer though....

My local store carries HD DVD for now. My wife stopped in a BB in the town she works in, about 30 miles form here. She asked them where the HD DVDs were. They looked at her like she was crazy and said that no BB carries HD DVD.

Sadly those douchebags probably make above min wage at 9-12 bucks an hour to be that uninformed.

Ah. It worked on one disk. The next day I got the same error with another disk and there are no updates available.

Ah. It worked on one disk. The next day I got the same error with another disk and there are no updates available.

did you try wiping the discs? Rentals tend to be abused and we are talking about blue laser so narrower tracks means the same damage is more serious on a blue laser disc than a red laser disc.

Another thing I try is to wash them with soap and water. That helps sometimes.
