Some guy sued the school parking services

He got a ticket for parking in a handicap spot and his complains were his letter of appeals to varaious recipients didn't get him through and "pay first, ask questions later" is unfair and unconstitutional.

When I lived in Portland, I got a ticket for parking in front of my own driveway because some j@ck a$$ PSU kids parked in my neighborhood w/o having a required permit parked forcing some residents to park in front of their driveway. The procedure was include a letter of appeal with the check.

I thought "pay now, question later" was a standard procedure..

Does this sound like a legit case or a typical liberal whine?

Pay now, questions later sounds like guilty and then prove your innocence. I thought it was the other way around?

He's probably got a good case. I hope he gets somewhere with it. I worked for my school's DPS, but I can see why it would make some people mad. However, if he was parking in a handicapped space w/out a permit, he's clearly guilty. I guess he's not contesting that, but the method of admitting guilt or innocence.

Procedure at my University: Pay ticket, fill out a appeal form, wait for them to reject you a month letter and give you no notification....
I have had one ticket overturned and was refunded, but I work for the University. It's not really fair when I decide to use my own vehicle to do my job more effectively and then be punished for it. I wish I could smack the h3ll out of those parking bastards.

if you appeal a ticket here, at UCLA, the ticket is placed on hold immediately, and they contact you later on whether or not you were successful.

I got a ticket for parking in front of my own house too on the wrong side of the road on a cul de sac🙁 damn nazi cops w/ nothing to do

Does he play football by chance?

I don't think that rules at private parking places, such as a uni., are constitutionally protected. If he doesn't like it, he can choose not to pay. They can then withhold the records, or kick him out, but he won't have to pay I guess. Eventually he'll regret it though... cuz he'll need something and they won't give to him.

Anyway, you could avoid the whole mess by not parking illegally.

At UCD, you can appeal first, then get rejected, then pay. But at least you get an additional 30days use of the $!

btw, I enjoyed writing tickets to people parking illegally in handicap spots. $271!!!!

Normally I'd side against parking nazi's, but in the case of parking in a handicapped space, I have no sympathy. However, the pay first, ask questions later policy seems really unfair.
