All I had to say to that was :Q

Ignorance must be bliss, because so many follow that path :)

Never heard of 'em...until the recent music awards when they won a bunch of stuff.

I still don't care to find out what rock they crawled from under...

Yes, I'm blissfully enjoying my time (along with trying to figure out what happened with the whole Texmaster is a racist bastard/lock thing;))

Progressive Rock/Jazz. Best songs you might have heard are Black Friday, Babylon Sisters, FM.

NFS4 - if you are going download anything, make sure you grab "Do it Again"... heck, if you can't find it I will put a couple of tracks on my FTP site! I don't mind mp3 sharing if it means that a band will get some more exposure.

OK, I listened to some cuts (including "Do it Again") and all I can say is, it's back to John Mayer, Ben Folds, and DMB for me :D

Excuse me while I wipe the blood from my ears.

This guy obviously suffers from a medical condition called, Anal-Cranial Inversion.

Steely Dan is an amazing group, and their music is some of the most sopisticated, intelligent music around. They can play tunes that take an audience full of three chord brains, lift them out of their seats, take them on some of the most diverse jazz chord progressions, far out poetic lyric images and strange time changes. At the end of the tune, the audience won't even know they left three chord land. They'll just know they've been some weird place, and they loved it. :D

That is talent! Unlike the jazz guys who say the audience can't understand their music, these guys reach their audience with the most sophisticated music.

Your friend's buddy is in dire need of a brain transplant.

To paraphrase Mike Oldfield, "Some music just shouldn't be hard by cloth-eared nincompoops"

Hey that's why Brandon doesn't like Steely Dan.. he hasn't any concept of what good music is listening to Dave Mathews crap. Talk about one song sounding the same..wait a second.. it is one song recorded live on about 50 albums.

You don't have to be old to appreciate them! I am 22, my friend is 21!

Sorry you can't appreciate these guys NFS4...

I am curious as to how many Steely Dan fans here play an instrument? I play guitar and bass, btw....

Top this though; my little sister thinks the Beatles are "crappy". :Q Steely Dan is greatly under-appreciated though. I still remember Deeko asking something like "who is this guy named 'Steely Dan'". Probably thinks that Jethro Tull is a person too.

<<Probably dated material for young guys like you Brandon.>>

19 years old. Currently listening to Cat Stevens. My Steely Dan albums are burried in my mess somewhere. Have every Boston LP, a good collection of Foreigner LPs, every Moody Blues LP up to Other Side Of Life, and so on and so forth. Some of us young kids know good music.

Haha, I still listen to that stuff. I snagged all of my parent's old CD's and ripped them onto my computer.
