I was driving towards the freeway and this car cuts me off...Then when we got on the freeway I passed him and started going 85. I think he was pissed and he started speeding up and caught up right behind me. Two minutes later a cop pulls up behind him and busts out with the sirens. So I braked and went to the right lane going at 65. The guy got pulled over for speeding :D

Gotta be careful around my area about speeding though, this is the second time I almost got a ticket. My parents would go nuts if they found out I got a speeding ticket.

You just benefited from somebody else's weakness instead of demonstrating your own superiority.
Not bad, though.

Why do poeple have this egotistical obsession with not being passed. I'm not going to get involved in the speeding debate around here, but why is it that some people cannot tolerate being passed?

When I was younger we used to go down to the "Cruise" which was in downtown Sacramento. It stretched for about 14 blocks East and West. We make a loop and see where the cops were hiding. Then we start back around again. As we came to one of the lights where a cop was sitting, we'd slow down so we had to stop at the light. Sitting as the first car in the right lane another car would pull up in the left lane. We'd rev the engine like we wanted to race and when the light changed we'd punch it for the first 10 feet then slow down. The other car would race out of there and get pulled over. It was fun.

Haha, that's actually pretty funny.

The only time I get annoyed about being passed is when someone does it an obnoxious and dangerous manner, which unfortunately happens more often then not. If I'm going at a reasonable speed given the speed limit and traffic (I'd say 10-15 over for freeway driving), then my driving generally should not be a huge problem. If someone thinks that the drive in front of him is going too slow, then the sensical approach would be to realize he will need to pass, wait for an opening, signal in advance, then get a safe distance in front of the slower car and pass. Unfortunately what most people do is run up on the driver in front of them at full speed, tailgate for some time, swerve into the next lane at the first possible opening without signaling, then get only a small distance in front of the other driver before swerving back in without signaling (even more annoying is when someone starts to cut you off and does not signal until he is actually in the process of it... gee thanks for the advance warning). That kind of driving isn't just rude, it's incredibly unsafe, and it's understandable to get mad about being passed in those kind of circumstances.
