Some gore make up pics

I'm working with a new gore make up artsit and I really liked the samples that she sent me... But the "burn" one has something wrong with it - I can't put my finger on it but would like some feedback... She's very cool and open to constructive criticism, I just don't know what to say..

The only problem I see in those pictures is the lighting.

Part of the effect is the implication. Dim lighting would help tremendously.

For a "little" less shine you can dust it a little colorless powder.
