Another year (my sixth and final) of college. What are your thoughts on some good easy going study music. I can study to some hard rock and stuff but prefer something softer but not stupid. Anyways, let me know your thoughts.

Thanks for reading

Frankly, it depends on your tastes, knowledge, and experience with music.
For me, for example, I havea qutie a history playing/listening to classical music, so if I start playing soemthing that I really really like, it distracts me.

Honestly, what really works well for me is the blues/ old southern folks songs and only some classical music.:D

Check out the "O'brother Where out Thou' " soundtracks as it isn't too far from mainstream music liek some of the other stuff is...

At work I prefer slower darker stuff:

Massive Attack
Portishead
Morcheeba
Julee Cruise
This Mortal Coil
Dead Can Dance

If this is your 6th year at college, perhaps you should try to study without music playing?

Yup...music may make your boring workday go a bit quicker and less painfully, but it will only hurt studying.

Get some ritalin instead.

Trance.

I can't study without music or tv...It's just too damn boring.

For reference: 93% avg in highschool, 82% avg in university (1st class honours)

Music helps me focus. I am very easily distracted by sound. So for example, hearing a door close catches my attention and I can lose focus. For me, it is best to drown out the background noise with music. Replacing inconsistant background sounds with one constant sound.

4.0 GPA in high school, just started college. It must not be hindering me too much.

ambient trance (NOT hard trance!), atmospheric trance.

Classical is another good choice.

An interesting blend of both techno and classical is stuff like Bond and Trans-Siberian Orchestra.
