I absolutely love my Altec Lansing speakers. I've had them for 5 years now & never even a hiccup or cough. Whether I play music, watch a DVD or play a game, they're always awesome. I think I paid around $80 for them. They're my 1st suggestion.

Oh, damn! I am all over this thread. (Hi YOyoYOhowsDAjello!)

I have the 5300's and I must say, they are an excellent deal for the money.
I dont really know how much power you need, but I start to get headaches long before I can max out the volume.
I use them in a spare bedroom that is about 8 feet by 11 feet. Even with the Windows Bass setting turned way down I can still piss off the landlord.

Picked them up from Newegg for about $170 a few months ago. You can get them now for $138 plus shipping.

(oh, yeah. NO Digital decoder, sorry.)
