some general questions

Hi, I've been out of the "computer scene" for about 2 years now and my old forums are completely inactive. Which means my knowledge regarding basically everything is outdated. Just wondering if someone could give me a little update on what the current standard and the current leaders are for things such as motherboards, graphics cards, processors, etc.

A bit more up-to-date perhaps with recommendations for bargain builds, low/mid-level gaming & HTPC in the first and then stronger systems in the second.

Good reading before you decide how to spend your cash.
