Some freezing issues with Everquest 2....need opinions on problem

A co-worker of mine is an avid EQ2 player that is having an annoying problem. Whenever he is in character generation or in his store for more than 30 seconds or so the game freezes. Yet during normal game play it runs fine for hours on end. Anyone else experiencing or have experienced the same issues?

The basic specs on his sytem are as follows:

Windows XP pro with all updates installed
Athlon 64 cpu
Chaintech VNF3-250 (socket 754)
1 gig Corsair memory
Nvidia 6600 GT AGP video card
80 gig WD hard drive

This machine is soley dedicated toplaying the game - there are no other installed programs, no music , virtually no web surfing, nothing.

Any input is appreciated

That has not happened to me. He running the latest drivers for all his hardware? Is he overclocking?

EQ2 is actually one of the most stable games that i have played in recent times, but that might be because i played Battlefield 1942/DesertCombat since its launch and now BF2, too bad they had to be so fun

No overclocking but the drivers thing is a good question....I'll have to check with him on that.

Maybe he has corrupt textures/files for those areas. Has he tried a full file scan (at the EQ login, you can do a filescan i think).
