Some easy overclocking questions

Alright, I've got my 8RDA+ hooked up, but I still haven't received my new SCSI card (old one flat-out doesn't work any more) or my new case, so I'm just trying out some things. I got lucky with my mobo. These Epox's come with Vdds of anywhere between 1.5V and 1.6V, and mine is at 1.58, so I was quite happy with that (best to not have to solder anything). I lowered the multiplier on my 1700+ T-Bred B and upped the FSB. I posted with a 200MHz FSB with the memory running asynchronously and at stock voltage. My question is, is that really a fairly good sign, or does it tell me absolutely nothing?

I've heard things like, "I can post at 200MHz, but Windows isn't stable, and at 210MHz, I can't even post." Is that possible?

The other question I have is what temperature should I shoot for with a T-Bred B? Is 39C too high? 49C? I'm more concerned with burning out my CPU than I am with getting the best speeds.

Thanks for your help.

What was your memory running at if you were asynchronous and at 200MHz FSB?

In any case, if you can post at 200 FSB, then that is a good sign. I've found that with AMD CPUs, if you can POST, then there is a pretty good chance that you can get it to run stable. Or at least you are very close to the stable mark.

As far as CPU temps go, I'm not real sure about the Tbred B's, but pretty much every CPU that I've ever owned would start to get weird about 50C (especially if OCing).

My memory is running at 200MHz (400MHz DDR).

I didn't know if it really meant much at all if it posted, but it seemed so effortless, that I got worried. I actually posted at 217MHz too, but I lowered it out of some strange fear that is completely unfounded. I'll probably install Windows @ 200MHz FSB and then bump it up later. If I can post at 217MHz, I would assume that I can run stably at 200MHz, but I might be wrong.

One thing I normally do is intstall windows at stock settings. You want to make sure that everything runs ok normally. Plus, the windows install takes so long, you don't want to mess it up with an OC error.
