Some DVDs have Movie Trailers

A few weeks back I purchased some cheap DVD's from bestbuy.com (short list of titles, $9.99 each). Thought I was getting a bargain until I went to watch one, and found it had trailers for other movies before the movie started.

Are there two different versions of DVDs: one for sale to end users, and one for Blockbuster to rent out with built-in trailers?

The affected DVDs are printed with an all-silver label, but the boxes they come in bear no indication that the DVD contained within has trailers.

Is there a way to tell if a DVD has trailers, before opening the box and finding out the hard way? Perhaps some way to tell by looking at the serial number or bar code number? I want to be able to prevent any more tainted DVDs from getting into my collection.
 
It's a new "innovation" on the part of studios. Previously, ads for movies were considered "bonus features" accessible by menu, but someone in marketing must have figured out that no one cared about them to watch them if they weren't forced to.
 
I Got dvd's from Columbia House before that have trailers. Funny thing is though a few years ago I got VHS tapes that actually had blockbuster stickers on them as well directly from Columbia House.
 
Thats one advantage of using a software DVD player on my computer (my HTPC which pipes movies to my HDTV projector), you can specify start points and each time the disk is inserted it will start from that point.... TheaterTek DVD Player.
 
I have a DVD with them too. Pisses me off, i mean it's not like they are THAT big of a deal, and you can skip them by pressing menu i think, but the principal of the matter. Paying 20$ for a DVD and still haveing to put up with commercials. Movies and Music have become the teh suck.

Not all of them can be skipped by pressing menu. A few of them require the entire trailer sequence to be played.

I've not seen one where the menu button wouldn't work once the FBI screens were finished.

FF would work but still sucks, though.

Does anyone have DVDs with trailers with COLOR labels printed on the DVD? All mine with trailers have SILVER labels.
