Some disturbing info from my Dev. Pscyhology teacher..

So Im in class the other day, just sitting around minding my own buisness and all of a sudden my teacher starts talking about homosexuals. So this catches my attention ( I like controversy) she rambles on and on for a few minutes then says something along the lines of " 80% of males are partially heterosexual and homosexual, only 6% are completely homosexual and only 10% completely heterosexual" She then went on to explain that when in certain situations, ones that seem to put many males together without a female that the men would become homosexual.


This disturbs me, and I dont find it to be true.

The first reason is because it goes against my religion, christianity. Homosexuality is a sin according to the bible, so why would God make something natural a sin? Just doesn't fit.


So has anyone else ever heard of anything like this? Anyone know if there are any truths in this?
 
did you know that some fish can change their gender when put into similar circumstances? (a bunch of these fish all the same sex, so a small number of the fish actually change gender so that the group can procreate/make baby fish)
 
One thing about psychology (and well just about any field) is that you can find all kinds of intriguing and controversial findings if you have a small enough sample group.
 
I've heard of this before, and I believe it's bullcrap. You aren't born to be homosexual, you are born to like the ladies...It's your problem if you start to like guys. You're messed up if you do. It's all choice, and no "natural selection"

According to your religion, it's a sin to have sex if you're not married, but that seems perfectly natural to me. It actually takes restraint for most people to supress the natural urge to have sex before they're married.
 
Maybe a small percentage of otherwise straight men would go gay. I don't think a large percentage would, but then again I know nothing about the subject.

Exactly. Just because you don't believe in it, it doesn't mean it isn't real or isn't happening.

Also was using examples other then prison. She is quite redundant when speaking, so at times its hard to follow her, but it seemed like she was talking about studys that had taken place back quite a long time ago, not neccessarily in modern times. Not sure though.


But prison does bring up a good point, if there are no females to satisfy a males sexual "needs" will he then resort to the next best thing, another guy?


Although if I were in prison I'd rather resort to myself then another guy.

But still, do you believe 80% or even 20% for that matter are both hetero and homosexual. AKA Bisexual?


Oh she also mentioned that women are naturally bisexual.

OH, another thing she told me is that scientists are starting to believe the Vagina is nothing more then an internal penis.






Maybe she's just crazy?

While I'm trying to justify pre-maritial sex, one thing you have to understand that most people in biblical times married at very, very young ages.
 
A lot more boys experiment than you think. Whether it's true or not I don't know, but it wouldn't surprise me. From people I have known, the experiences are usually in the 14-16 years of age range, and usually by that time it's out of the guys system and they just want some poontang, not pooptang.

I beleive that maybe 5% of men are gay, a couple more percent are bi, and over 90% are straight. This whole thing about people being partially straight and partially gay is jsut BS political correctness to try and make people identify w/ homosexuals. Same thing about women being bisexual.

Saying that a vagina is an internal penis doesn't even make sense. Anyway, when a child is developing in utero, it always starts off as female. In males, the penis develops from the clitoris, not the vagina.
 
I don't think you can call the prison situation becoming gay. The guys turn to homosexual acts out of a need, its not like they wouldn't choose a woman over a man. They are just heterosexual men doing homosexual things.

And like others have said, just because you don't believe it doesn't mean its not true. I think her #'s are wrong also though.
 
From a Christianity point of view there are LOTs of natural human impulses that urge you to sin. The whole point is for you to resist the sinful urges and live a clean life. It's basically constant testing of your resolve. "Wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction." Life is a constant test, Heaven is the reward. If people didn't have any urge to sin, then the earth would already be perfect and there would be no Heaven.

I never experimented when I was a kid, and I can almost gurantee you that ALL of my friends are completely 100% straight. Heck, alot of them HATE homosexuals. Or are just scared of them.

 
Hmm, it seems plausible given the prison analogy. Then again the prison population is a skewed section of the general population, so that may factor into it. Given how much we still don't know about genetics/environment, it seems foolish to claim you *know* based on personal observation.
