I was selling a motherboard on ebay and this guy kept e-mailing me about it asking if I could end the auction early. I had my buy it now price at $95+ shipping but he said it was too high. I told him I wasn't going to lower it so he agreed he'd pay the buy it now price but someone ended up bidding on it getting rid of the buy it now option.

I didn't want to send the auction so I decided to let it run thinking I could possibly get more plus the guy seemed really weird. I told him if he wanted it to just bid, that way we were both protected under ebay. So he did and won it for $76. He told me that he was still going to pay me the $95+shipping anyway. He said he's sending a money order so I don't know of anyway he could be scamming me. Talk about weird.....

Guy's just being nice because had he went through with his plans he would have paid $95 for it.

Just make sure the money order is real. Also beware if he asks you to refund the difference via a legal method.

I can't believe anyone buys stuff on eBay. Unless you're looking for rare or used stuff, you will get ripped off EVERY TIME. And people still buy things. Amazing.

On the contrary - not as many geeks populate ebay, so computer parts generally come cheap if the person starts them at a reasonable price. In addition, I get hella lot of used DVD's if the seller is reputable.

My friend buys everything on eBay and always ends up paying close to retail price for some used piece of equipment.

I tried to buy parts from my last build on eBay and it was a waste of time. Everyone sends in rebates for hard drives and then tries to sell them for slightly under retail price. Yeaaaahhhh...no way.

umm, no. New games for example can be had for cheaper. Other things I buy aren't rare at all but I still end up saving a good $20 on it even after shipping. The only real risk to me is warranty and not receiving the item at all but I've had good luck.

Just talk to the bank when yo ucash it and ask how long it will take them to verify that the MO is 100% legit. Then don't ship the item until the guarantee you the money is yours.
