some car tech questions..

what's the difference between horsepower and torque?
what do they actually mean anyway besides its the 'power' of the car?
how about litres? (2.0, 3.0 etc) and how do they relate to the horsepower?
cylinders and v6? i guess figuratively v6 is 50% stronger than 4 bangers right? how do they relate to engine litre & horsepower?

thanks.

It's kind of difficult to answer all those questions in a sentence or two if you don't have much background in car engines.
Take a look at how stuff works and try to ask some more specific questions.

Litres or cu.in. just relate to displacement.

You can't say that a v6 is 50% stronger as that makes no sense.

Hot Rod magazine did a huge 2 part article on the Horsepower/Torque issue. Basically torque is the mechanical force generated by the engine while horsepower is a calculated figure based on torque and rpm.
