Authorities confirm they are searching San Francisco Bay tonight for three children who are believed to have been thrown into the waters off Pier 7 by a woman, possibly their mother.

The children are ages 1,2 and 6. With San Francisco police and firefighters searching along the piers, U.S. Coast Guard boats and a helicopter are looking in the area where the children reportedly entered the water. There is no sign of the children at this time.

Police responded to the pier when a 911 call came in at 5:30 p.m. from a witness who reported seeing one or more children being put into the water.

Police confirm they have a woman, possibly the children's mother, in custody.

Witnesses say the children had their clothes taken off before being tossed into the water some time after 5:30 PM.
