I just got home from work 10 minutes ago (1:45AM PST) and some bonehead who does NOT belong in the parking lot is parked in my spot. I had to parallel park into someone ELSE's spot which really pissed me off.

I have already left a note on said person's car warning them not to park illegally in the lot (they can be towed). They seem to have a reading comprehension problem.

I would tow them but the manager isn't in the office right now.

Am I justified in keying their car? Sugar in the gas tank? Slashing their tires? Anything to get it through (his) thick head that parking in my spot is BAD..

Grr.

don't do anything to his car. he knows where you park. he probably won't let it slide..
leave a note, and if you see the dude again parking in your spot, just have it towed

It's too bad you're not up here in the northeast. I'd tell ya to bury his car in snow. :)

Don't damage the car though. Not a good idea IMO.

How about calling a tow truck yourself???

I already left a note. He's not a resident in my apartment complex. I know everyone in the building and none of them drive that car. He doesn't know who I am or where I park.

At least I have a spot tonight. If I *ever* see his car in the complex again it's getting towed. Grrr.

I think he knows where you park -- since he's parking in your spot. ;)

There's much bigger problems in the world like salination, species extermination, deforestation of the tropical rainforests, topsoil erosion, 4 million Palsetinian refugees, the Kurdish problem, etc, etc.

So stop being petty about some pathetic parking space.

Just park out the front on the street or on the nature strip by the footpath till the bloke leaves.

Or do you live in one of these Californian housing developments, where the developers brought in rules against parking on the steet or the nature strip (we don't want ugly cars effecting the land values). So withing 5 minutes of parking out front you'll get some busy body petty neihbour calling the cops to come down & stick a parking ticket on your windcreen.

kw3i - damn, I should have thought of that earlier. If anyone needs me, I'll be hiding in his pickup bed with an axe.

hendon - actually the parking situation is really screwed up as to how they allocated the spots.. it could be any one of the people on the ground floor taking revenge. ;)

I spose they use a different term in the States (like sidewalk instead of footpath), its the grass strip between the footpath & the kerb. Useally wide enough for a car to park on, without bloking most of the footpath.

Its against the road rules to park on the nature strip but in residential suburban streets the cops useally (or should I say mostly) turn a blind eye, & not worry about it.

You can call the police and have them ticket him. I did that one time when someone took my parking spot inside my building's garage. It was a civil complaint that was filed by me and the police officer. The ticket was for $55 here in Northern NJ. The guy contested it and had to go to court about a month later. I didn't go so I don't know what happened but at least I inconvenienced him back one evening.

Maybe someone else took his spot and he had to take yours in the same way that you took someone else's when he took yours?

Gee.. me thinks Peacock needs a valium... or soap.

but besides that...
I agree with the others... call the cops and file a civil complaint. They'll tow him and ticket him... and at 1:45am, he aint getting his car out till morning me thinks.
