Some bank employees suck!!!!

Instance1:
I was in the bank a while back, I had $8xx.xx balance and then deposited $720.00. I asked the cashier what my balance was and she put both the amounts on a piece of paper and started adding them. I could not see what she was doing and it took her two freaking minutes. She handed me a paper that said $12xx.xx as my balance. I was like WTF???!!!!!

I told her that something is wrong. She then put the two amounts on a new paper and started adding again. She freaked the hell out of me. She was crossing out some numbers, putting some new numbers and then atlast came with $13xx.xx. She just sucked :|:|

Instance2:
Anyway, I was using the drive through banking on monday and requested the cashier my balance. She wrote down my account number, date and my balance $1490 on a nice piece of paper. I went ahead and withdrew $1480 to pay for my bills. Guess what?🙁 She gave me a wrong number. I had only $1079 according to the statement and I now have negative balance. She couldn't even read the numbers on the computer. I have a big negative balance + fines/charges from bank.

I still have the paper that the cashier gave me with $1490 as my balance. I used it after chewing the gum. 😀 I will have a nice talk with her tomorrow. :|:|

Damn, I'd be pissed if a bank employee made me overdraw like that.

Of course, I also keep better track of my money.. A 400$ discrepency would probably be quite noticable. 😛

Bring it up with the customer service or branch manager, if you have her name or her user id on your receipt.

Since always? LOL.. How do you think overdraws happen? 😛

He said he was at a drive through. I have never known anyone to be able to overdraw an account WHILE PHYSICALLY AT THE BANK.

The teller has to type in what she is doing. The computer should have prevented the transaction.

Tellers and cashiers aren't the brightest people... who'd have thunk it? I'm not expecting my bank teller/cashier to be a genius. These are the people whose registers have PICTURES of the items they're selling on the keys rather than a written description.

There was likely a deposit hold on your account. Book balance and available balance are two seperate things. She should have given you the later, sounds like she gave you the former.

its odd...but i keep up with my money, chiefly because i dont trust the tellers at the bank. i dont even go into the place if i can help it...thank bank of america for atms and online banking that pwns

Many aren't - I had a cashier at a major drug chain bust out a pencil and paper to figure out 8.5% tax on exactly $10.00

A ten year old can add $720 and $8xx.xx in a minute and come up with a correct answer. The sad thing is these cashiers are employed to do that. If they cannot do it, they should start school again.

Don't people keep track of their own money? Cripes, that's all I use my PDA for anymore (except Solitaire). I never trust what the ATM tells me, or what the deposit slip tells me. My PDA tells me exactly how much I have and I have never been wrong.

Just last week, my credit union forgot to key-in my car payment. Usually they will drop it in my savings if they forget to do it. But it wasn't there, either. I had to call them up and find out what happened to my $100. Turns out someone just forgot about the money. And would have forgot, had I not called them up, until their next audit probably.

Ya... otherwise there'd be a run of bank robberies with a new tactic: Make an account w/$5 in it, go up to the cashier, "I'd like to withdraw $10,000,000 please

um..why do tellers write your balance??? they should give you a printout of your balance!!! wTF?

No crap. All of the banks that I (and the businesses I work with) do business with print out balances. My bank can also give you a PIN or password for online access overnight (you have to call an 800 number and verify your identity, and then they'll tell you your PIN).

I still track everything through Quicken. To date, however, my Quicken balance has always matched what the bank says. Within a few hours my pending transactions are always visible online.

Note to self: Try to find a bank teller as dumb as Yogi's and try that tomorrow 😛

Spend what you have, know your balance, and give it a $100 cushion, I do. If you spend 28 dollars on gas, deduct 30 off your mentally kept balance, the point is to round up. I never over drawn (any more 😛). If you calculate your balance every pay check and mentally add what you spend, round up, you'll be fine.
