Trigun is awesome, so is Gungrave. I really need to rent that again..
The Big O is really good, Escaflowne, Ninja Scroll is a must see classic, so is Akira

WHRobin bored me, I never cared about the chars.Nior was more boring IMO (maybe got better after first 5, didn't eatch after that) . Vampire Princess Miyu is a much better, but older, gothic anime.

s-Cry-ed is entertaining, but not the best on the list, lots more..

Some personal favorites:
Rurouni Kenshin OVAs
RahXephon (think of Evangelion, but with a less whiney main character, better storyline, and an ending you can actually comprehend)
Shingetsutan Tsukihime
Gunslinger Girl (young girls that have suffered great tragedy have their memories modified and their bodies engineered to be assassins, forming close relationships with their brothers (Fratelli) but have very limited lifespans)
Noir (a young girl and older woman form an assassin team to discover their past)
Serial Experiments Lain

Others:
Tsubasa Chronicles
Cowboy Bebop
Elfen Lied
Berserk
Scrapped Princess
Gundam SEED/SEED Destinty/Wing
Last Exile
FLCL
Naruto
Gungrave
Haibane Renmei
Trigun
GTO
X
Monster
Samurai Champloo
Bleach

Gantz...without giving away the plot was DVDs crack. I borrowed the first three DVDs from a friend and started watch them on a Saturday morning. After watching them straight through, borrowed the rest of the DVDs and finish them on Sunday.

I left out quite a bit actually. I didn't even hit on a few more unique series, or the newer series that have come out over the last year or so.

As for the RahXephon description, it's the absolute truth ;)

Yea, cause I'm sure all of us were like "WTF?" at the end of Eva.

I don't even know where to begin with the ending of Eva. There's so many different opinions on what the ending/movies were supposed to be, I just don't even bother with it before.

After I saw RahXephon, it made me wonder why I really liked NGE that much in the first place. If I can find the DVDs of the fansubs, I might be able to upload some of the episodes to you.

Yakitate Japan. Best show about bread baking EVER

If you're looking for a more serious kind of anime, i recommend Last Exile. I liked Get Backers a lot too, not a real serious series, lot of comedy. Hellsing is a real short series so you could knock that out pretty quick. Trigun and the Read or Die series i thought was skipable, but i guess i would consider pretty much all anime skipable :p. Rahxephon is my least favorite anime series. Out of the ones i've seen anyways. Cowboy Bebop is probably a must watch series for any anime fan. It was the first anime series i watched and is still probably my favorite.

Definitely watch //hack.sign if you ever wondered what MMORPG fans are like :p

I actually thought the plot was complex and worthwhile, though not well translated by fansubbers.

it's not a tv series, but Grave of Fireflies is probably one of the best anime movies I've ever watched.

Looks like the list here has quite a few listed... not sure if anyone has suggested Blood+ yet, but from what I have seen of the series so far its pretty good. Monster is also very good, check out animenfo.com for listings of other shows. In my opinion, pretty much anything by the studio Bee Train is good. They did Madlax, the .hack series, tsubasa chronicle and a few others.

Hajimme no Ippo
Suzumiya Haruhi No Yuutsu
Genshiken
Suzuka, if you like drama's
Fate Stay Night
Tsukihime

There's a buttload more that are good, but these were the ones I could think up at the moment.

Serial Experiments Lain is a MUST if you haven't seen it. Also more votes for GTO and Hack Sign.

I have Samurai Champloo queued up at Netflix right now, I'm looking forwrd to it.
