some advice please

i need a bit of advice. I met a friend of a friend last night and we hit it off good. Only problem is he doesnt like hurting people and his last gf was irrational and possessive so he says he's waiting until he wants to get married to get into another relationship. But, he said he'll still date, and that if nothing else we'd make great friends. Well, i'm not at all worried about him making the first move and calling me, but i'm curious as to where to go from there so i don't mess anything up or pressure him.. any thoughts??

alright, that doesn't help me AT all.
You didn't say you wanted help. You asked if there were any thoughts. The thought of taking dating advise from teenagers that spend all of their time in front of a computer is frightening.
Besides aren't you the cute dark-haired one? I thought you had a boyfriend?

some of these people are married with kids, they did something right.
I am married with kids and my advise is still don't take dating advise here.

I don't really get what the problem is. He says he only wants to date, no serious committments...so just do that. date! (as in not be exclusive and dont' expect him to be).

Nifty way of him to say he wants in your pants but dont expect him to commit to anything.

RUN!

Really, I'm sure you can do better. 🙂

i dunno, but i think if all he wanted was a piece of ass he would have went for one of the girls that wasn't fully clothed last night.

huh could be right... hes playing the guy that just got hurt by his ex and dosen't want to be in a realtionship but wants to be friends for moral support... i could see this happening.

"...if nothing else we'd make great friends"

To me, this sounds like he is laying it out for you. If this is something you're willing to accept, to just be friends and you dont expect anything more from him, then go for it. There is nothing wrong with being friends and having fun together.

If things between you spark and you think there is a possibility of getting more serious, you need to ask him if he feels the same way.

But, in the meantime, go have fun! 🙂

My best advice is to let him know you won't be having sex with anyone who you haven't established a meaningful relationship with.

Then stick to it. Works for me. 😉
