Take them out beyond the 12 mile limit and let then swim back to shore.

The pirates have no compulsion about shooting at the ships and have killed crew members/passengers before.

As an indivigual, they may not have, but as a collective; they have. It is by chance that they have not killed as many - this is becuase the crews have been ordered to not repel but to hide out in a safe area.

To spend tax payer money when there are other solutions available is wrong.

They are pirates; treat them as pirates were back in the 17th - 19th centurys.
That is what slowed the priates down; not the appeasement which increased the incidents.

Imprisonment which is a better life than what they had is appeasement.
