So I've got a 2x290 (stock) setup, CPU at 4.2GHz. Res is 1920x1200.

I have a mix of Ultra/High/Medium settings, hairworks high, tesselation at 8x set in CCC.

My fps seems to be in the 45-50 range and my 2nd card seems to be doing nothing. GPU2 usage as shown in Afterburner has some spikes but most of the time it is very low (<10%), and the card speed stays close to the low power 300MHz...highest I see is around 450MHz (stock high speed is 947MHz). GPU1 usage on the other hand is near 100% all the time.

Any suggestions why the 2nd card is barely used?

EDIT:
Oooookaaay...so it was the fullscreen thing...I didn't even realize there was such a thing as borderless windowed so it looked to me like I was in fullscreen.

Both cards are functioning properly now. Thanks all for the suggestions!

multi gpu scaling is pretty bad in Witcher 3. Often in SLI I would get 50-60% GPU utilization on both cards. Also are you in fullscreen mode? I don't think CF works properly in borderless.

Have you tried turning off the antialiasing? it's a postprocessing thing that uses the previous frame, which crossfire doesn't like.

Maybe there's something else that needs to be turned off too.

I'll give that a go as well.

Anyone think it could be the Hairworks causing a CPU bottleneck? I thought hairworks had been patched in W3 to the point where AMD users could use it?

Hairworks currently performs the same on both AMD and Nvidia, at least on single card, as the hardforum article has showed. It's just trash code that's unplayable on both vendors.

How's the game run? Settings? Experience? Etc.

It runs fairly well (around 60 fps most of the time) with most things at ultra except shadows (medium), NPCs (medium), foliage distance (medium), and grass (high). I turned off most of the post-processing except AA as well.

That's good to hear. So I still need 2-3 gens of gpus to max this out at 4k I guess with a crossfire solution!
