Solved: I was unprotecting the document using the wrong tool. Added the "Form" toolbar instead of using the "Tools" drop down.
I have a Word document that we use at work. It was created by another employee who is no longer here.
The form is used to track specific instructor information.
For the instructors, you can select their name from a drop down list then enter the required info under their name.
We have new instructors and when adding the new names and removing the old names, we lose the drop down capability. We are stuck with the edit field.
There is no password on the document.
The document is Unprotected, then edited. No drop down list just the edit field.
Protected again, still No drop down list just the edit field.
Basically, we start out with the first image and end up with the second.
