A friends PC used to have three user accounts for the XP logon screen.

Went like this, select username and enter password (was on left side of screen for 3 users. Each had own username, password and picture. (was on right side of screen

Now her logon screen just says select name to begin (on the left hand side).

But on the right hand side whereshe would select the user, there is nothing. No name, or pic or password box.

I cant bring up anything, even if I left/right click, mouse over the area. Hitting the enter key brings up the shutdown options.

At the F8 Options screen, I have tried the option to bring up the PC in "Last known good configuration" or setting that worked, which does nothing.
I can bring it up in safe mode with networking, but I cannot not fix the accounts. I cant get on the net.

Anyone ever experience this? Can you please help me out?

Specs are : CPU: Intel® Celeron® D 330 Processor

64MB Shared memory
Sound: AC '97 Audio

I have the restore DVD from Emachines, put cant wipe out the drive yet. She never backed anything up, (She did not know the importance)

Any Ideas, clues?

Thank you

Try hitting CTRL-ALT-DEL-DEL and see if a log-in windows appears. If it does, I guess you could log in that way, otherwise, I have no idea.

The system could not log you on, make sure your user name and domain are correct, then type your password. Letters and passwords must be typed using the correct case.

Hmm... when you do get into safe mode, can you do anything with accounts such as change them or try to create a new one?
If you can, try creating a new account and see if you can log in from that account.

Otherwise, I think you may have some corrupted file or a confilct between some programs

hey Foresaken..., thanks here is what I did:

1. Got the PC into Safe Mode with Networking.
2. Had her go to Start/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore.
3. She picked a Restore Point from 3 days earlier and everything worked out good.

I have her now saving all her imp. crap on CD. so she can restore the whole POS PC.

I will edit the title of this thread to solved.

Thanks foresaken...
