Dear all,

the problem below got solved by removing the harddisk to another pc and formatting it.
warning: ghost 12 created an unremovable folder 'boot' which disabled the possibility to restore or reinstall vista, the irony :)

Regards
Bram

Dear all,

I had (finally) a perfect working pc for weeks besides a ps2 mouse isssue. The new F4 bios for my mainboard would solve this so i installed it.
System is working fine as always untill i decided to do a clean install now that the experimental phase was over :)

So i put in my vista dvd and it the pc boots from the dvd but after
the progress bar the screen stays black (more than 30 minutes is a long wait :)).
I tried the same with my ghost 12 cd. Same problem, booting works but loading any gui / screen fails.

So I tried everything:

- changed usb keyboard and mouse to ps2
- disconnected everything during boot
- try to install from windows vista itself but also there it fails after the first install
- removed 2 gig ram

I want to stress that the only thing i did the last weeks was a bios update. And that i installed vista and ghost perfectly the past weeks.

So bottom line is that i can't acces my ghost copies, can't do a clean install (always microsoft progress bar and than nothing when booting from dvd).

Is it possible that there is a strange thing about the harddisk that is causing this because a dvd from gigabyte with experess recovery works fine?

Please help
Bram

sorry, i am having a hard time trying to figure out your problem. Are you saying Windows XP or Vista is not installing and/or crashing? Or are you talking about something else?

My system comes this monday so I can't be that much help. Were there any systems cd's or disks that came with the motherboard that you forgot to install before the Vista installation?

Have you tried going back to the previous bios and elimated a bios problem?
