[Solved... sort of] Cannot remove songs from 4s

I'm at my wits end... 😵

iPhone 4s, don't use iCloud. All the songs my daughter has downloaded from iTunes on her phone have also shown up on my phone... and I can't get them off. I've tried to manually manage my music in iTunes (doesn't work,) I've unticked every function in iTunes and Music in my phone... but there they are.

What am I missing?

are you sure you don't have iTunes Match enabled?

I've never subscribed to iT Match. As far as the phone, I have 'show all' disabled, 'automatic downloads' all off. In iTunes itself, in 'On This iPhone' it doesn't show the downloaded songs in the list. I have 'sync only checked songs and video' checked, and in Music I have 'Selected playlists, artists, etc' checked.

EDIT: I found a way to delete ALL the music on my phone, and then reload the songs I wanted (the ones I have checked in iTunes.) That seems to have worked.
