I have an Asus A7N8X-DX and for some reason, the sound in Windows will get messed. The sound sounds like the speakers are blown and EQ settings have been maxed out to everything. Uninstalling and reinstalling the nForce drivers helps correct the sound problem, but it takes out the Detonator drivers with it. My GF2MX will be uninstalled when I install the nForce drivers and on reboot, it won't let me install the video drivers.

Windows will detect the device and try to install it but fails saying "An error occured during the installation of the device. The required section was not found in the INF."

Uninstalling both drivers and using DriverCleaner to get rid of all the drivers doesn't work. I still have the same problem trying to get the video card working with the proper drivers.

Reinstalling Windows XP helps, but that's not what I want to do everytime I get this problem.

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Service pack 1? New nforce drivers out too. Try those. Are your speakers blown? This is def a software problem. I had something similar with my onboard and it wouldnt go away so i just bought an audigy 2 :\

Yeah, it's SP1 and the latest versions of both the nForce and Detonator drivers. No, the speakers aren't blown. Reinstall of the OS and drivers and they sound normal until something screws it up. I still haven't pin pointed what screws it up and am trying to figure it out.

Now I'm curious if other people can uninstall their nForce drivers without it have it having any impact on the Detonator drivers.

My ATI Radeon 9500 Pro is being RMA'd right now. Hopefully I won't have to worry about this problem when I get it back...

My A7N8X Deluxe had sound problems too...so I disabled it and put in a SB Audigy2 ZS. I could never get the dang sound to stop corrupting, repeating, or all kinds of crap.

I used the nForce drivers from Asus' website and so far so good. I haven't encountered any sound problems.
