(SOLVED) Macbook Pro Memory Mystery

Ultimately this is just another compatible memory question, but this one has got me stumped because of a lack of specificity.

I'm looking at the newest refresh of Macbook 15" i7's (2.2 and 2.3ghz). Apple's site doesn't really say exactly which i7 is inside the Macbook, but naive deduction arrives at the i7-2720QM and i7-2820QM.

On Intel's site, it says that these proc's support (DDR3-1066/1333/1600).

Apple gives one memory speed option (1333), and Crucial's memory checker says max speed of 1333. Is this the constraint of the motherboard? I can't find information anywhere on the mobo in the new macbook pro's.

Any ideas?

no gain but less battery life and more heat for 1600 imo. the cpu dictates the ram speed since there is no more FSB with core chips.

apple decided 1% gain for 10% battery loss is not worth it. and the macbook 15 is really an in-between model - everyone goes for the 17" for the screen. i'd be hard pressed to buy a 13 or 15 (i have a 13 air and pro 17).

i've been offered the newest pro15 and 13 and was like meh - use my old i5 17" and core2duo macbook air - works great.
