Ok, I decided to upgrade from a Logitech Quickcam Express which had no problems whatsoever working with VLC. Now, this Quickcam 5000 would not even display video with VLC 0.8.4a, so I updated to the latest, 0.8.5, and now it will display video, but I can not for the life of me get it to encode to a file. Depending on the settings, VLC will either create a blank file or crash.

Can anybody help?
 
I dont' know how this numbering works, but I got the latest nightly build which had a -000 on the end of the version and it didnt' work either. I then tried the nightly that had the highest number, -2205. Tried it and it works.
