I just built a new system based on the A8N-SLI mobo. It's not compatible with my ZA firewall, so I am using its built-in Nvidea Forceware and ActiveArmor hardware firewall.
However, my BT client is very slow and won't leave 'yellow' status. I followed some advice here- http://btfaq.com/serve/cache/25.html - but no banana.
Can you help me?

I used to use an older version of this client on my current BB internet line, with my former PC. Very smooth. Just give access in ZA and all was well. This is a newer BT version, and a different firewall (the nVidea one). But the BB connection is the same.
I allowed the BT program access through ports 6881-6999 in the nVidea firewall config. Windows FW is off.

I have the A8N-SLI Deluxe nForce4 with my internet modem connected to the nvidia ethernet (vs the marvel) I opened the ports that bittornado is set to use in the nvidia firewall. The torrents now goes green but my download speeds never go over 10k and after a minute or so my entire internet connection slows down. I cannot even browse the web even though there is no traffic on bittornado or anything else in the system. If I stop the torrent the internet connect goes back to normal after a minute or so. I tried a torrent that I had already completed and was able to upload to my full bandwidth. I am on Windows XP Home SP2.

I turned off the nvidia firewall and used the basic Windows XP firewall and everything works now. That seems to indicate that there is a problem with the nvidia firewall. Rather disappointing as the hardware accelerated firewall was one of the features that led me to the nForce4 architecture in the first place. I was unable to find an updated version on the nvidia website...

I agree. My hunch is that it is blocking most incoming connections. I tried everything I could.
I miss my ZA :(

I too have the A8N SLI board and cannot get the new firewall working. I have messed with the different ports and settings with no success. I cannot get email to work when its on. I have to delete the program before I can do anything. Even after that I go into my registry and remove anything dealing with the firewall remove anything under program files and reload the software and still no success. I can't find any help on their website either.

Hi
I've got the same experience.
I succeed to connect to the web with firefox but never can get my email either with Thunderbird or Outlook Express. Kaspersky couldn't update the virus definitions.
Even in the "off mode" the firewall blocked my email and Kaspersky.
For now I've uninstalled the Nvidia firewall, prying to find a clue in forums or nvidia website...

Regards
Marc

After different tries, I found that Kaspersky Anti Virus Personal 5.0 (KAV) is the guilty ! Obviously it doesn't like Nvidia Firewall (NFW). I have had a mail exchange with Kaspersky support who explained me that both NFW and KAV have an IDS module. (I don't know what it is !) and that I have to remove the net real time protection of KAV. I did it, but it is the same. No mail and no anti virus signatures can be downloaded...

Hi Guys,

Finally, after 10 days I managed to get my system up and running in good conditions (that's 48h Prime95).
Most problems I've had with Nvidia Firewall - for this I've installed windons xp about 14-15 times... (but that was not the problem)
Now everything is working great (including the firewall !!!)
My conclusions after all this testing:
1. NAV does not work with it !
2. Kaspersky does not work with it !
3. NOD32 and McAfee DO WORK WITH IT !!!
In order not to have any problems with the email you should open in Active Armour the ports 25 and 110 only for outbound (that means set activearmour to not offloadable on outgoing).
Iexplorer should also be set to not offloadable.
The profile what I'm using for the firewall is LOCK-down with these minor changes.
Windows firewall is OFF.

Hope it helps cause it took me forever...

wow! Thanks. Actualy I have had some simular problems. My issues revolved around no AV install/updates, system lockup trying to install 3rd party firewall, and very slow/erratic bittorrent downloads.

I have had some interesting experiments here.
