I get this error when trying to install the latest iTunes.

What is the fix? I've tried using Windows Install Clean up to remove all things Apple and Java SDK 1.4.2_09. I also have java 6 installed. Do I need to remove all things java?

What do I have to do.

And yes I am angry. I can not get my brand new IPod working without iTunes!

EDIT 1: Since apple software update managed to install itself during the install, I am trying to use the updater to install iTunes+QuickTime. We'll see how that goes even though I don't expect it to work. Also, I can verify that I get this error (in the message title) when "iTunes+QuickTime" is being installed.

Good find, but my registry is properly set up with that key. Thanks for pointing it out.

I am starting to get very frustrated.

Everything I find in Google says to use this:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
But I have had no luck using it. I removed everything involving Java and everything related to Apple.

I ran Windows One Stop on the registry. Clean up a bunch of stuff. No luck.

Then, backup up registry. Then searched it for "j2sdk1.4.2_09". Turns out I had it installed on an old hard drive that died months ago. That was the J drive. So, I removed all references to "j2sdk1.4.2_09" in the regestry that were related to the J drive and SUCCESS!

Obligatory: Windows Sucks

As a note, I don't know if Crap Cleaner (aka: CCLeaner) would have worked or not. That was my next step and it still might be my next step jsut to clean things up a bit.
