I've been having some issues connecting to my network printer recently. Not sure how long it's been like this, but if I were to guess it's ever since I moved my router to a better location (attatching a switch between it and my modem).
The printer is a HP Photosmart 5520. Its wireless settings are all as they should be, it reports an IP adress, everything seems to be in order. But I'm not able to detect it from any of my computers (2 desktops, 2 laptops), connected at various points through the network.
The network is laid out like this:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/a0d4ht5nl9zet5h/Network Map.png?dl=0
*The DHCP server in the D-Link router is disabled
*The router is connected through a LAN port, not WAN
*There are no IP conflicts, all devices seem to be dealt adresses correctly
*Both Ethernet and WiFi work as they should for all connected devices except the printer
*Connections between computers work (mostly) fine
*I could connect the D-link directly to the modem, but that would reduce network speed to 100MBps
The only odd thing I've noticed before this is that Windows makes a complete mess of drawing a network map through the Network and Sharing Center, usually listing several more switches, or even devices listed as "unknown" in between computers/phones/tablets. It seems unable to grasp that there is anything "outside" of the D-link, with it always shown as the last device before "internet" (although it isn't the DHCP server).
For now, I'm not able to connect to the printer wirelessly at all. It doesn't autodetect, and entering the IP adress makes no difference. This is the same wether I use Windows' "add a printer" dialogue or the HP Photosmart software.
Does anyone have any tips?
