So i connected my mb to my case (Antec SLK3700) and it works fine...except for the hdd led. It's kinda annoying even though its small. Maybe I'm putting them in wrong, but I've tried every possible combination. From the case, the HDD LED wire consists of an Orange and White wire. There are three of them. Does anybody know which one could be the postive wire?

Simply try them both ways, on the correct pins. One of the two orientations will work if they're on the correct pins. If you need help determining the correct pins, then post what motherboard you have.

(also remember that the HDD LED only lights up when the HDD is actually doing something, of course)

How did you solve this? I have an Epox motherboard, and I can't get the HDD LED to work. One way, it does nothing. I flip it around, and the HDD LED stays lit constantly.

Any ideas?

Well if it's lit, it's working. LED's are polarized - they'll only light up when the right leads get the right polarity.
If it is lit constantly, the IDE controller is reporting constant activity. I don't know exactly what causes this though. Maybe a device conflict?

I've seen master/slave conflicts do this; even though the devices may work, the activity LED never goes out.
MDesigner, you didn't mention in the other thread that you *can* get the HDD to light (constantly) in one configuration...

I figured it out. I didn't get the machine enough of a chance to boot up. The HDD LED stays on for a few...then once WinXP starts booting, it goes off. it works now
