(Solved) Computer turns off when put to sleep

I recently upgraded my SSD to a Samsung 830 and did a fresh install of Windows 7 along with it. Ever since, whenever I put my computer into sleep mode, it instead turns itself off, and then throws the "improper shutdown" error at me when I turn it back on. I can't figure out what would cause this and was hoping some of the AT experts might be able to shed some light.

Also note that the new SSD is plugged into the separate Marvell SATA III controller on my board, which is the only change (aside from the drive itself).

From what I've read it's best to avoid using the Marvell controller if at all possible as they tend to be flakey. I just disable mine in bios before I install windows and forget it's even there.

The problem with that though is this is a P55 board so SATA III isn't built-in to the Intel chipset, it's only available from that separate controller.

I was ejecting a flash drive and I noticed that Windows seems to think that the SSD is a removable disk. Perhaps that has something to do with it? Maybe Windows is trying to eject the SSD when it goes to sleep and that causes it to shut down? Does anyone know how to set the disk as fixed/non-removable?

For the record, I solved this issue. It was indeed related to having my boot drive on the Marvell controller. I was able to successfully enter sleep mode by disabling hybrid sleep in the power settings and installing this hotfix: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2541014 . I re-enabled hybrid sleep and it worked fine.

(simply disabling hybrid sleep would also work, but I prefer the added data security of hybrid sleep.)
